Sean’s Week On Twitter #12

Sean’s Week On Twitter

It’s official the summer holiday season has now finished, for me at least.

Leading up to the summer break I had been hitting the blog and social media quite hard. My daily blogging experiment finally gave way part way through July. Even though I had all good intentions to blog whilst on vacation, it never quite happened.

It has been a time for contemplation.

I have been reading quite a bit and one book that stands out for me is The Accidental Creative by Todd Henry. Of all the inspirational business books I’ve read, whether they be by Seth Godin, Chris Brogan or Gary Vaynerchuck. This is a book that gives real, practical instruction on achieving the things you want, creating order out of chaos and reach a feeling of contentment without compromise. It has certainly made me look closely at my life, home and work. If all goes to plan you should see some changes here over the coming months, inspired by The Accidental Creative.

That is all for the future, for now here is another episode in Sean’s Week on Twitter, a collection of some of the best content from the web this week.

The Twitter effect: We are all members of the media now

Probably the biggest sector to have seen an impact from Twitter is journalism. In fact it’s not just how it has affected the journalists themselves, but the fact we have all [Twitter Users] become journalists in some respect due to it.

Move with the Speed of Disruption

Predicting the future has been a lifetimes ambition for many, be it weathermen, seismologists or the financial experts. According to  Michael Raynor, author of The Innovator’s Manifesto: Deliberate Disruption for Transformational Growth, we may be a step closer to being able to predict the chances of a business being successful.

6 Keyword Research Mistakes You Might be Making

When you look at doing any form of search engine optimisation how much time do you really devote to keyword research. Even when writing the title for a blog post it should be a consideration if you want to maximise reach online. Check out these practical tips to ensure the keywords you choose are effective.

How Social Media Affects SEO

In the early days of Social Media it was uncertain whether it was having any effect on the position of a site in the search engines. As Google+ enters the social space I think it is safe to assume that there is a definite impact. How great is that impact? This article takes you through some of the practicalities of Social Media and Search.

360 Panorama for iPhone

I just had to include this link as I was so impressed with the application. 360 degree panoramas for use online have been around in various formats since the late ’90s. Using Java, Flash or even proprietary formats to display the image. What I really liked about this application is that it just works, making fantastic use of the gyroscope and compass in the iPhone or iPad. (Sorry other phone users).
