I am a big Hubspot fan. For those of you that have not heard of them, Hubspot were named 8th fastest growing software company in the US by Deloitte in October 2011. Providing online marketing applications for their clients, their own business marketing is a prime example of what makes social media work.
Create great content, consistently, in multiple formats and give it away for free.
This attracts visits to their platform again and again, giving them many opportunities to convert visitors into customers.
They produce a weekly video podcast every Friday, filmed live at their head office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Hosted by Karen Rubin and Mike Volpe, it is around 20 minutes of entertaining news and tips on social media, all with useful “marketing takeaways”.
One of the other things they are prolific at is producing Ebooks. Now these aren’t low quality, unplanned, collections of blog posts. Rather they are well thought out and beautifully presented useful reference documents for you to download for free. These are a great way to educate yourself of the benefits of social media and find out what you really need to know about the platforms that matter.
